Clean Globe International appointed four new board members

As of May 2007, Paul Shapiro, Magnus Rystedt, Christian Ramm-Schmidt and Timo Leino have been appointed members of Clean Globe International’s Board of Directors.

Paul Shapiro is Senior Banker at EBRD’s Natural Resources Team. EBRD, The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, is the largest single investor in countries from Central Europe to Central Asia. EBRD is one of the investors of CGI’s center expansion in Russia & CIS countries, a project valued 107MEUR, which will result in the set-up of seven new Clean Globe centers in the area.

Magnus Rystedt is Managing Director at The Nordic Environment Finance Corporation, NEFCO. NEFCO is a risk capital institution financing projects with an environmental effect in Russia, Ukraine, the Baltic countries and Belarus. NEFCO is also one of the CGI center expansion investors. Magnus Rystedt has extensive experience in project financing within the environmental field. From 1998-2000 Magnus Rystedt served in St. Petersburg as Swedish Team Leader for Stockholm Water, implementing institutional strengthening of the water company Vodokanal. From 1993-1998 he worked with VAI VA-Project AB (currently part of SWECO) developing infrastructure projects mainly in Russia and the Baltic States.

Christian Ramm-Schmidt is Senior Partner at Merasco Capital Ltd, an investment bank specializing in mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Ramm-Schmidt has broad experience leading different industrial companies since 1970. He is one of the top CEOs in Finland and sits on several boards of directors. He has acquired, divested, and integrated companies, and managed complicated merger processes, particularly in the former Soviet area.

Prior to joining Merasco, Mr. Ramm-Schmidt was CEO of the brewing corporation Baltic Beverages Holding Ltd (BBH). Between Mr. Ramm-Schmidt joining BBH in 1997, and the end of 2006, the company beer sales rose from 300 million litres to close to 5000 million litres, and the Russian market share rose from 16% to 40%. Under Ramm-Schmidt’s management the organization became the market leader in Russia, the Baltic countries, Ukraine and Kazakhstan, and one of the leading breweries in the world.

As CEO of the Finnish Fazer Confectionery Group between 1984 and1997, Mr. Ramm-Schmidt saw the international share of Fazer’s total sales almost double. Mr. Ramm-Schmidt has also held several managerial positions including e.g. Servi Systems, Readers’ Digest Ab and Rank Xerox Oy.

Timo Leino is Director of Booz Allen Hamilton Oy in Finland and responsible for the Helsinki office. Booz Allen is a leading global strategy, management and technology consulting firm. Mr. Leino has extensive experience in strategic management and has held several managerial positions in consulting and financing firms. Mr Leino has worked abroad for over 12 years, e.g. as Managing Director at JPMorgan. Mr. Leino brings with him his extensive experience in strategic management and in the restructuring and acquisition processes of organizations.
