Oman
Since 2002, Clean Globe International has actively developed the Clean Globe Center concept in Oman. A major business concept presentation was held there on the 8th of February 2003, where it was presented to members of the government and potential customers.
Based on market potential evaluation, it became evident in 2004 that Oman fulfils the requirements of a financially sound investment model for a full scale Clean Globe center. Since then, considerable amounts of funds have been invested and the center concept further developed.
General factors favouring environmental improvements in Oman are:
- The government on the highest level is committed to turn Oman to an environmentally exemplary country.
- Oman is dedicated to become self-sufficient in provision of environmental services.
- Both the government and private companies have enough funds to implement the required environmental improvements.
Through high quality local environmental service providers like Clean Globe Gulf, the best environmental standards can be achieved in Oman and the know-how exported to environmentally less developed Gulf region countries and beyond.
Clean Globe Gulf LLC, was formed on November 1, 2006. Clean Globe Gulf LLC is a Joint Venture based in Oman and owned by CGI and Shwar International LLC, which is owned by H.E. Sheikh Nasser Al-Hashar.
CGG LLC is one of two pre-qualified companies in Oman that have operational permits from the Ministry of Regional Municipalities, Environment & Water Resources. CGG has also received a Letter of Intent as a service provider for MRMEW from December 1, 2006 for oil spill prevention as required by new Omani law.
Furthermore CGG LLC is currently bidding for three additional services:
- Port waste management concession for all Oman ports.
- Operator rights for secured landfill (the design and construction supervision of the landfill is done by CGI network member Pöyry Environment Oy)
- Creating and implementing and operating an environmental management system for the Port of Sohar, together with monitoring plan for air and discharged waste water.
Since CGG LLC is already present and established through oil spill prevention services with dedicated plots in all harbours in Oman, CGG has a true competitive advantage to win the Port waste concession. Over the last 20 years Lamor and CGI have assisted in the law making process by translating and amending the existing Finnish Environmental Legislation for the purposes for the ministries in Oman.
Clean Globe Gulf currently employs three expatriates and four native Omani employees, thus responding to the Omanisation Law for native quotas of any private company work force.
CGG LLC collaborates with the Sultan Qaboos University to include Environmental Sciences into their study schemes. CGG LLC will support the study programmes inviting students and graduates to join CGG LLC operations as part of their course programme.
